THE MILK CARTON KIDS Live from The Troubador in LA

Thurs, May 13, 9pm EDT

The Milk Carton Kids are a Grammy Award-nominated neo-traditional folk duo from Los Angeles, California. Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan formed the group in early 2011, shelving their solo careers in favor of a collaborative project that focused on harmonized vocals, entwined acoustic guitars, and rootsy songwriting. They released their first two albums -- the live Retrospect and studio LP Prologue -- in 2011, at which time they also began a pattern of persistent touring. Known on the road for their adversarial, Smothers Brothers-evoking comedic banter as well as their virtuosic guitar skills (Pattengale's intricate picking and Ryan's airtight rhythm guitar), they added a backing band to the project for the first time in 2018 with their fourth studio album, All the Things That I Did and All the Things That I Didn't Do. The duo pared things back in 2019 for the intimate The Only Ones. (AllMusic)

STRAIGHT NO CHASER Live from MGM National Harbor

Friday, May 14th, 2021 at 8:30 PM ET
Saturday, May 15th, 2021 at 3 PM & 8 PM ET
Sunday, May 16th, 2021 at 2 PM & 7 PM ET

Straight No Chaser is often referred to as the greatest a cappella group in the world. The American born singers originated in 1996 at Indiana University. In 2007, a 1998 video of "The 12 Days of Christmas", went viral with over 8 million views and subsequently led to a five-album record deal with Atlantic Records in 2008.  Anywhere in the world, nine dapper vocalists walk across the stage and immediately bring audiences to their feet. They do so with nothing more than microphones in hand, grins ear-to-ear, witty banter on point, and an uncanny ability to belt out holiday staples, R&B, smooth jams, and stadium anthems carried by style, swagger, and spirit. For as much as the story of Straight No Chaser belongs to the nine guys on stage, it also belongs to a devoted community of millions worldwide affectionately dubbed, “Chasers,” who cemented the a cappella collective’s status as an international phenomenon.
